Burglar Alarms
|
I'm moving home in a month, and because it's in South West london (nearest team AFC Wimbledon @ Kingsmeadow), i need some security advice.
Has anyone got or have knowledge of a burglar alarm that is linked to police response? Most insurance companies seem to ask for this and because i'm massively OCD and also love a gadget i'm keen to get some camera's set up so i can get a bit "smart" with the home tech/security stuff.
All help appreciated.

You can buy the home cctv kits now that you can monitor via laptop or mobile from anywhere.
You can also buy a wirefree alarm system that is a piece of piss to install, just pay an alarm co to come along after and install the modem for monitoring and pay the annual monitoring fee - they call the police if you set the account up that way

All about protecting the home properly with locks etc, as does anyone actually ever listen to an alarm and think about reporting it if the owner isn't there?

Volley, incorrect as usual.
ADT are a manufacturer and installer of alarm systems, whether they are connected to a remote monitoring service is up to the customer, you can still buy bell only systems from most suppliers/installers.

Aren't they linked to a call centre rather than the Police?

Ball, yes, as I have already posted at least twice.
You give them a script, keyholder details and what other services you want contacted and in what order.
The police will only accept this if it an approved system installed by an approved contractor (used to be nacoss).
After a set number of false alarms the police will refuse to respond to alarm calls.

Got a 4 and half stone Staffordshire Bull Terrier, he deals with any security issues. Granted, he can't put out fires.

I knew someone years ago in the days of the old den who moved to the tenth floor of a tower block in new cross, all the furniture was moved in on the Saturday. When they came back on Sunday night the door had been kicked off its hinges and everything cleared out including curtains and carpets.
Had to have the door and frame steel lined, hinge bolts and multi locks.

How much money you got?
I used to work for banhams alarms. Not cheap but prob the best home security co in London
Every time the alarm went off it would go to our office and a key guard (me) would turn up and check the property over . reset the alarm and sort any repairs that needed doing
In just under a year I had 2 real ones . one an office in Stratford and one house in Fulham
The rest was all false alarms
